The Whispering Trees

I'm working on the edits from my Developmental Editor and planning to release a new YA series, The Secundus Resistance. My goal is to publish the first book, The Whispering Trees, this December.

Synopsis

One day, Ella would cut down her enemies with an axe. First, she had to learn that everything she'd been taught to want was a lie.

In a future where forests have reclaimed the earth, seventeen-year-old Ella lives in Cuna, a walled city where citizens pack food for distant masters and fear the wild Nature beyond the walls. The Menders keep order with kind smiles and deadly efficiency. Everyone believes the outside world is poison. Ella believes something worse: that her life of dull routine is all she will ever have.

When an old gardener whispers of an unlocked door, Ella ventures into the forbidden forest and hears a voice, not from the trees, but through them. It calls itself Noa, the last survivor of a failed revolution, and it knows why the walls were built. As Ella returns night after night, she discovers ruins of the old world and chilling evidence that her neighbors are not who they seem.

Her quiet resistance becomes dangerous sabotage. Her best friend hides a love she is too busy to recognize. But when he is captured by the city's true power, Ella must stop thinking only of her own escape and find the strength to fight for someone else. Because Noa keeps whispering the one truth she doesn't want to hear: home is a cage, and a seed that stays safe is just a stone.
